Latest News

Whilst our English “summer” may have left something to be desired the Dream Factory has been enjoying almost continuous sunshine thanks to the support of a lot of very kind and hardworking people.

This has enabled us to provide even more special moments for a number of very deserving young people.  You can see our up to date Dream List here

Abridge Ladies
Back in June, when the weather was reasonable, Pam and Leslie from Abridge Ladies Golf Club organised a fantastic event on behalf of The Dream Factory.
Patron Vicki Michelle (now an MBE) came along to support us and the most enjoyable event raised a huge amount of money which will really enable us to deliver a lot more Dreams.

Fortunately the Rotherfest Beer & Rock Festival and Golf Day (yes, it sounds an odd combination to me as well) was in July when the weather was kind.

Our friends Kim and Justin from the Kings Arms in Rotherfield hosted this incredible event on behalf of The Dream Factory and also raised a load of money.

Our friends Haslers in Loughton have continued their hard work and continued to raise money on our behalf.

Young Josh Mills and his friend Harrison, both just 13, are keen golfers so they too decided they could do something for The Dream Factory. I’m pretty sure that it was his own idea and his mum Avril didn’t threaten him with a lifetime of washing up!

Anyway, just last week they held a Stapleford competition at their local club and despite the absolutely awful weather, it rained hard all day; they raised a magnificent amount of money. Here they are looking justifiably proud of their efforts.

Also close to home, Avril’s neighbour Connie held a local raffle and raised more than £100 for The Dream Factory. Here are Connie and her friends

We are incredibly grateful to all these people and to their friends, colleagues and guests who supported their events and contributed to The Dream Factory.

Also, grateful thanks to all those local businesses who have taken one of our collection boxes and to their customers and stuff who make donations to The Dream Factory in this way.

And to the volunteers who pack shopping and shake buckets and raise money for The Dream Factory in lots of different ways.

However the funds are raised, every penny helps and every penny goes towards our work of brightening the lives of sick children.

All of the events we’ve highlighted above have required hard work but we have one fund raising event coming up in just a few days’ time that requires BRAVERY!!

On September 5th our Founder Avril is going to abseil down the side of Earls Court Exhibition Centre!
Those of you who know Avril will recognise that she is more comfortable in 5 inch heels than in climbing shoes but she is determined to complete the challenge and has even managed to persuade some (mad) people to do it with her.  You can support Avril’s efforts by going to www.justgiving.com/avrilsabseil.

Good luck Avril.

Dream List

We have just updated the Dream list of an increasing number of fulfilled dreams and those we are working on.. Dream List.

The Dream Factory News

Thanks to the tremendous generosity of literally hundreds of people and companies together with the hard work of our Patrons and volunteers The Dream Factory is going from strength to strength.
We have now provided nearly sixty very special memories for some very sick young people and there are a lot more “life brightening” events being planned.

For a complete list of all of the Dreams we have been able to grant then please look at our Dream List.
If there are any in the top section that we are working on that you could help us deliver then please do give Avril a call on 020 8501 1234.

The Dream Factory were invited to bring some Dream children and volunteers and carers to a very special X Factor Party. Everybody got to meet the stars of the show and a great time was had by all. See the photos of the party.

Also in the News, but this time it was the BBC, was the announcement that our Patron, Iain Duncan Smith has been appointed to the newly formed cabinet.  We are incredibly proud of being supported by Iain and offer him our congratulations for this recognition of his incredibly hard work.

Events

We have just updated the Events Page with latest details incuding the news that the incoming Mayor of Redbridge, Jim O’Shea, has selected The Dream Factory as one of his “Charities of the Year”.  See details here.

Kyle

Kyle also comes from Upminster and is 3. He wanted a garden playhouse where he could play and be with his brother, Jay. The Dream Factory got on the case and he looks mighty pleased with the result.

Joshua

To redress the football balance we were able to deliver the second part of Joshua’s Dream. He had already been to White Hart Lane (the home of football) and had a good look around now he was to meet the players! Thanks to Harry Rednapp and all of the team who made James so welcome. See more pictures here

Ellis

Ellis lives in Upminster and is 8. He has some serious health problems and has been in and out of hospital most of his life.

Ellis is “a Gooner” he loves Arsenal Football Club and really wanted a laptop with the Arsenal badge laminated on the top. And The Dream Factory certainly scored for him when we delivered his Dream.
